NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Tim Redding held Washington to two runs and just four hits in seven-plus innings Saturday in the New York Mets' 3-2 win over the Nationals.

Redding (3-6) threw 98 pitches against his former team before being replaced by reliever Sean Green following Josh Bard's lead-off double in the top of the eighth.

Daniel Murphy drove in two runs for the Mets. Jeff Francoeur drove in another and a run scored on Adam Dunn's seventh-inning error.

Closer Francisco Rodriguez earned his 32nd save with a 1-2-3 ninth for the Mets, who snapped their six-game losing streak with just six hits.

Dunn hit an RBI single, giving him 100 this season for Washington.

A run scored on Green's eighth-inning throwing error, but no batter had more than one hit for the Nationals, who have lost four of five.

Losing pitcher John Lannan (9-12) surrendered three runs and five hits in seven innings.
