COL FB: Boise St. 51, Fresno St. 34

FREDERICK, Calif., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Kellen Moore threw three touchdown passes Friday, Jeremy Avery ran for 186 yards and No. 10 Boise State held on for a wild 51-34 win over Fresno State.

The game included eight plays of at least 60 yards, six of them going for touchdowns.

Fresno State's Ryan Matthews picked up 234 yards and scored three times on runs of 69, 60 and 68 yards.

Boise State remained unbeaten in three games and Fresno State fell to 1-2. It was the first Western Athletic Conference game of the season for both teams.

The Broncos took a 24-17 lead at halftime and did not put the contest away until Avery caught a 67-yard touchdown pass from Moore early in the fourth period. That score came just 26 seconds after Fresno State had closed to within seven points on the 68-yard scoring run by Matthews.

Boise State scored the game's first 17 points on a 30-yard interception return by Winston Venable, a 32-yard field goal from Kyle Brotzman and a 60-yard run by D.J. Harper, who gained 107 yards on 12 carries.
