NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Injuries in last week's NFL season-openers likely will cause both Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb and San Diego running back to miss Week 2.
McNabb sustained a fractured rib when the Eagles routed the Carolina Panthers 37-10. Although Coach Andy Reid says his quarterback has improved, McNabb did not practice this week.
His status was "doubtful" on the league's injury report late Friday.
Tomlinson suffered a right ankle sprain when the Chargers rallied for a 24-20 win over the Oakland Raiders Monday night, and his playing status was "Out" on San Diego's injury report for Sunday's home-opener against the Baltimore Ravens. He has been wearing a protective boot.
Backups Darren Sproles and Michael Bennett will shoulder San Diego's running attack when Tomlinson misses a game for the first time in his NFL career due to injury.
