
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Julio Lugo tripled in two runs and scored another Monday when St. Louis took a 7-6 lead in the fourth inning and went on to beat the Florida Marlins 11-6.
Colby Rasmus had three hits, including a three-run homer in the eighth inning, and Matt Holliday drove in three runs for St. Louis. Ryan Ludwick added a two-run single and Skip Schumaker finished with three hits and three runs scored in the victory.
Todd Wellemeyer started for the Cardinals and allowed nine hits and six runs over four innings. Blake Hawksworth (4-0) yielded one hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory.
Nick Johnson hit a two-run homer and Chris Coghlan had a two-run triple for the Marlins, who lost for the third time in their last four games. Ricky Nolasco (11-9), who had won his previous three decisions, gave up seven runs and 10 hits in five innings.
