MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Southern California grabbed extra first-place votes in the latest USA Today coaches' college football poll but Florida remains the clear No. 1.

The USC Trojans' (2-0) late victory over Ohio State allowed them to get first-place mention on three coaches' ballots and kept them in third overall. The 18-15 USC win resulted in Ohio State (1-1), dropping from seventh to 11th in the poll.

Florida (2-0) got the other 56 first-place votes and is ahead of Texas (2-0), which remained No. 2 despite losing those first-place votes to USC. Alabama (2-0) and Penn State (2-0) remained in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Mississippi (1-0) improved from eighth to sixth while Louisiana (2-0), ninth a week ago, and California (2-0), 10th last week, are tied for seventh. Brigham Young (2-0) went from 12th to ninth and Boise State (2-0) is 10th.

After Ohio State, the list has Oklahoma (1-1) at No. 12 followed by 13th-ranked Georgia Tech (2-0), No. 14 Virginia Tech (1-1) and Texas Christian (1-0) at 15.

Utah (2-0) was placed 16th with Oklahoma State (1-1) dropping from sixth to 17th. Nebraska (2-0) and North Carolina (2-0) kept the Nos. 18 and 19 spots and Georgia (1-1) is 20th.

Cincinnati (2-0) is at No. 21 followed by, in order, Miami (Fla.) (1-0), Kansas (2-0), Oregon State (2-0) and Missouri (2-0).

Missouri is a new entry in the poll as Notre Dame (1-1) dropped out after a loss to Michigan.
