ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Tommy Hunter's complete-game six-hitter Sunday led Texas to a 7-2 win over Seattle in the opener of a doubleheader.
Hunter (8-3) gave up two runs in his 102 pitches with 11 ground ball outs and 13 on fly balls.
In his first complete game, he won for the fifth time in his last six decisions.
Chris Davis, David Murphy and Nelson Cruz hit solo homers and had two hits apiece.
Esteban German had two hits and one RBI.
Three others had one RBI for the Rangers, who have won five of six.
Adrian Beltre led Seattle with two hits of its six hits and one RBI.
Ichiro Suzuki knocked in a run with his 199th hit this season for the Mariners, who have lost six of seven.
The losing pitcher was starter Doug Fister (2-2).
The opening game of the doubleheader was a makeup contest following Friday's postponement because of heavy rain in Arlington.
