
NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Mike Napoli's throwing error on a pick-off attempt sparked a two-run eighth inning for the New York Yankees in a 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Mark Teixeira had a triple and two RBI for the Yankees. Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher both drove in runs in the win.
Joba Chamberlain went just four innings due to a strict pitch-count, and gave up a run on four hits to get a no-decision. He hasn't won since Aug. 16, a stretch spanning seven starts (three losses, four no-decisions).
The Yankees lead the American League East by 7 1/2 games over Boston.
Vladimir Guerrero was 3-for-4 with a solo homer for the Angels.
Jered Weaver (15-6) took the loss after giving up five runs on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings. The Angels are six games in front of Texas in the AL West.
