CINCINNATI, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Jay Bruce hit a pinch-hit, two-run single in the seventh inning Monday to give the Cincinnati Reds a 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros.

Bruce was activated off the 15-day disabled list earlier Monday, having been sidelined since July with a fractured wrist. Brandon Phillips homered in the eight inning for the Reds.

Bronson Arroyo (13-12) earned the win after holding the Astros to a run on six hits in seven innings.

Houston starter Wandy Rodriguez (13-10) was charged with the loss. He held Cincinnati scoreless through six full innings, but allowed the first two batters in the home seventh to reach base before being pulled. He gave up five hits and struck out eight in six-plus innings.

Carlos Lee was 2-for-4 with the lone RBI for the Astros.
