NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Kim Clijsters, who entered the U.S. Open as a wild card, won the championship Sunday, topping off a remarkable return to women's tennis after a two-year layoff.
The 26-year-old Belgian defeated rising young star Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 7-5, 6-3 for her second Grand Slam win and the 35th title of her WTA career.
