NFL: New York Jets 24, Houston 7

HOUSTON, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- The New York Jets built a 10-point halftime lead on a touchdown pass by rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez and a field goal Sunday, going on to down Houston 24-7.

Sanchez was 18-of-31 for 272 yards in his pro debut.

The TD pass was a 30-yarder to Chansi Stuckey in the second quarter after Jay Feeley had opened the scoring with a 24-yard field goal in the first.

Thomas Jones ran for 107 yards and two second-half touchdowns for the Jets (1-0).

The Texans (0-1) scored on a 48-yard fourth-quarter fumble return by Dominique Barber.
