
DETROIT, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Rick Porcello gave up two runs and just four hits in six innings Sunday, leading the Detroit Tigers to a 7-2 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Porcello (13-8) struck out only two batters in his 103 pitches, but averted the big inning by throwing 13 first-pitch strikes to the 24 hitters he faced.
Brandon Inge and Gerald Laird led Detroit with two hits and two RBI apiece.
Three others had one RBI.
Magglio Ordonez had three hits and Miguel Cabrera two for the Tigers, whom have won nine of their last 11 contests against the Blue Jays.
Toronto got one RBI each from Aaron Hill and Edwin Encarnacion.
Five batters had one hit for the Blue Jays, whose three-game winning streak ended.
Losing pitcher Ricky Romero (12-8) yielded four runs and 10 hits in six innings.
