
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Adam LaRoche's two hits and three RBI Sunday led Atlanta's 9-2 rout of St. Louis, capping a three-game sweep.
LaRoche hit a two-run double in the top of the third and a solo homer in the ninth.
Yunel Escobar and Matt Diaz each hit two-run singles.
Nate McLouth had four hits and one RBI, while David Ross added an RBI for the Braves, who settled the issue with a six-run third.
They had not swept the Cardinals in St. Louis since August 1999.
Winner Javier Vazquez (13-9) pitched a complete-game seven-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts.
Matt Holliday knocked in both St. Louis runs with a ninth-inning single.
Skip Schumaker had three of the seven hits for the Cardinals, who had won five of six before being swept.
Losing pitcher Chris Carpenter (16-4) was tagged for seven runs and nine hits in six innings.
