
PHOENIX, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Ryan Braun had a two-run homer in the first and doubled home another run in the third Friday, pacing Milwaukee to a 6-3 victory over Arizona.
Milwaukee built a 6-1 lead through five innings and went on to halt a three-game losing streak.
Braden Looper (12-6) got the win, ending a streak of three straight starts in which he had to settle for a no-decision. He gave up three runs on eight hits over 5 1/3. Trevor Hoffman earned his 31st save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Doug Davis (7-13) was roughed up for 11 hits and five runs in just three innings.
The loss officially eliminated Arizona from contention for the National League West pennant. The Diamondbacks began the night 21 games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
