COL FB: Alabama 40, Florida Int'l 14

TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Trent Richardson ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns Saturday, helping fourth-ranked Alabama to a 40-14 win over Florida International.

Greg McElroy completed 18-of-24 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown for Alabama (2-0). Terry Grant and Mark Ingram each had a rushing touchdown and Mike McCoy had five receptions for 100 yards and a TD.

Florida International took a 14-13 lead in the second quarter, but the Crimson Tide responded with 27 unanswered points, out-gaining their opponents 516-214. The Panthers were held to just 1 yard rushing, while Alabama ran for 275 yards.

Paul McCall completed 16-of-32 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown for Florida International (0-1).
