PHOENIX, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Ramon Troncoso made an error in the ninth Wednesday and then walked Mark Reynolds with the bases loaded to give Arizona a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The unearned run in the ninth halted the Los Angeles winning streak at two games and allowed Colorado to creep within 2 1/2 games of the first-place Dodgers in the National League West.
Troncoso (4-3), usually called on in middle relief, was sent out in the ninth to try to get the game into extra innings. He put himself in instant trouble, however, when he threw wildly to first after fielding a grounder off the bat of Gerardo Parra.
Parra reached second on the play and Trent Oeltjen came in to run for him. After Ryan Roberts sacrificed Oeltjen to third, both Stephen Drew and Justin Upton were intentionally walked to load the bases.
Reynolds then worked the count full before drawing the walk that forced in the winning run and helped Arizona end a six-game losing streak.
Juan Gutierrez (4-3) got the win by retiring all five men he faced in the eighth and ninth.
Both teams had an inning in which they produced two homers. Miguel Montero and Chris Young had solo blasts in the second for Arizona and the Dodgers got solo shots from Manny Ramirez and James Loney in the fourth.
