MLB: LA Angels 3, Seattle 2 (10 innings)

ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Erick Aybar drove in the winning run in the 10th inning for the Los Angeles Angels Tuesday in their 3-2 victory over Seattle.

Aybar singled off of Miguel Batista (6-4) to drive in Bobby Abreu, who opened the inning with a single and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and a ground out.

The first-place Angels lead Texas in the American League West by 4 1/2 games.

Abreu had two hits and an RBI for Los Angeles.

Matt Palmer (10-1) picked up the win by pitching a scoreless 10th. Los Angeles starter Scott Kazmir allowed one run in seven innings.

Franklin Gutierrez had a solo home run in the first for the Mariners and Mike Sweeney's solo homer in the ninth tied the game 3-3.

Seattle starter Felix Hernandez went seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
