DENVER, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Jason Marquis turned in a solid start and Eric Young hit a solo home run for Colorado in the Rockies' 3-1 win over Cincinnati Tuesday.
Marquis (15-10) limited the Reds to one run on four hits and struck out seven in 7 1/3 innings to match his career high for wins and carry the Rockies to their seventh win in eight games.
Young went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Todd Helton and Carlos Gonzalez each drove in a run on sacrifice flies.
Matt Maloney (0-4) took the loss despite giving up one run on four hits.
Joey Votto drove in Cincinnati's only run in the eighth on a groundout with runners on second and third. Votto faced Randy Flores, who was brought in from the bullpen after Marquis allowed the two runners to get into scoring position with one out.
