MLB: Florida 4, New York Mets 2

NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Hanley Ramirez and Cameron Maybin each hit two-run homers Tuesday to lead the Florida Marlins to a 4-2 win over the New York Mets.

The Marlins have won five of their last six games and remained six games behind the NL East-leading Phillies, who beat Washington Tuesday.

Florida starter Rick VandenHurk went four innings, allowing one run on four hits.

Brian Sanches (4-1) pitched two scoreless innings to get the win and Leo Nunez earned his 19th save of the year.

Luis Castillo went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Mets. Josh Thole drove in the other run.

Tim Redding (2-5) gave up four runs and five hits in five innings to take the loss.
