NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Adam Lind and Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria were named co-winners Tuesday of the AL Player of the Week honors.
Lind earned his first career weekly award by batting .321 with four doubles, three home runs and an MLB-best 12 RBI. He had a .786 slugging percentage and a .457 on-base mark.
His best game of the week was Aug.31, when he had two home runs and eight RBI against Texas.
In the same period, Longoria led the American League with a .467 average, five doubles, 10 runs scored and a .933 slugging percentage. Going into Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees, the 2008 AL Rookie of the Year had an 11-game hit streak.
Longoria is the second player in franchise history to reach 40 doubles, 25 homers and 100 RBI in a season before age 24.
