OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, has a shoulder separation and is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks, the school said Monday.

Bradford will not have surgery, but the injury is a blow to the third-ranked Sooners, who lost their season- opener to No. 20 BYU 14-13. While Bradford is out, Landry Jones is expected to take over as the starter.

Bradford was hit by Cougars linebacker Coleby Clawson on an incompletion late in the first half. He landed hard on his right shoulder and his right arm was hanging limp at his side when he went to the sideline.

Bradford spent the second half in street clothes with his throwing shoulder in a sling.

Jones took over at quarterback to start the second half and finished the game completing 6-of-12 passes for 51 yards. Bradford was 10-of-14 for 96 yards and a touchdown in the first half.
