Kiel allegedly grabbed the arm of his girlfriend, Christy Rundle, 40, of Noblesville, yelling at her and scaring her into a ballpark bathroom, where she waited, crying, for police, as Kiel stood outside, witnesses said.

Kiel allegedly ignored a police order to leave the park and shoved and hit police officers until they had him handcuffed, police said. Kiel faced preliminary charges of domestic battery, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.

Kiel was starting quarterback for four years at Notre Dame in the early 1980s and played for the Colts, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers before retiring in 1993.
