
OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Cliff Pennington hit a two-run homer and had three hits Saturday in Oakland's 9-5 win over Seattle.
The homer, his third, pulled Oakland within 3-2 in a four-run third.
Mark Ellis had two hits and two RBI.
Daric Barton hit a two-run double.
Adam Kennedy had two hits and one RBI and two others drove in one run each for the Athletics, who had lost three of four.
Winner Brett Anderson (8-10) gave up three runs and seven hits in five innings and stuck out six.
Closer Andrew Bailey earned his 22nd save.
Jose Lopez led Seattle with two hits -- one a two-run homer.
Mike Sweeney had four hits and one RBI.
Rob Johnson hit a two-run single, while Ichiro Suzuki added three hits for the Mariners, who had won four in a row.
The losing pitcher was starter Luke French (4-5).
