
NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Daniel Murphy's three hits and four RBI Sunday led the New York Mets to a 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs.
The rookie first baseman was a double shy of hitting for the cycle.
He hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth, an RBI single in the fifth, and a two-run triple in the seventh.
Brian Schneider and Angel Pagan had two hits apiece for the Mets, who won twice in the three-game series.
Winner Mike Pelfrey (10-10) gave up a run and five hits in eight innings with a walk and five strikeouts.
Closer Francisco Rodriguez recorded his 30th save, despite Geovany Soto's ninth-inning RBI double.
Soto had two of the six hits and both RBI for the Cubs, who have lost five of eight.
The losing pitcher was starter Randy Wells (10-8).
