LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Wade LeBlanc and three relievers combined to shut down Los Angeles Friday in San Diego's 2-0 victory over the Dodgers.
The Padres, trying to avoid a last-place finish in the National League West, won their fourth straight game. Los Angeles saw its lead in the division over Colorado trimmed to 4 1/2 games.
LeBlanc (1-1) won for just the second time in his two-year major league career. He gave up two hits over six innings while striking out two and walking three.
Joe Thatcher and Luke Gregerson teamed to work 1 2/3 innings and Heath Bell recorded the final four outs for his 34th save.
Kevin Kouzmanoff singled in a run in the first and the other San Diego score was unearned in the second. A throwing error by shortstop Rafael Furcal allowed Oscar Salazar to score what turned out to be the final run of the game.
Clayton Kershaw (8-8) suffered the hard-luck loss. He surrendered the two runs on four hits in six innings.
