SOUTH BEND, Ind., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Jimmy Clausen threw three of his four touchdown passes to Michael Floyd Saturday to lead No. 23 Notre Dame to a 35-0 win over Nevada.
It was the first shutout for Notre Dame since 2002.
Clausen went 15-of-18 for 315 yards. Floyd, a sophomore, had just four receptions but they were good for 189 yards. Armando Allen led Notre Dame in rushing with 72 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
Nevada's Colin Kaepernick was intercepted twice. He was 12-of-23 for 149 yards and rushed for 39 yards. Vai Taua rushed 18 times for 114 yards.
