LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Jon Garland allowed his former team five hits in seven innings Thursday to help bring the Los Angeles Dodgers a 4-2 victory over Arizona.
Garland (9-11) was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Dodgers Monday. The deal was completed just in time to allow Garland to be a part of the Los Angeles post-season roster.
He struck out six, walked one and gave up the two Arizona runs. The victory boosted the Dodgers five games in front of Colorado and six ahead of San Francisco in the race for the National League West pennant.
Arizona had a 2-1 lead going into the fourth, but Manny Ramirez tied it with a leadoff homer against Billy Buckner (2-6). Casey Blake followed with a double and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Ronnie Belliard.
Jonathan Broxton gave up a hit in the ninth, but struck out two and picked up his 31st save.
