Grady Sizemore needs two surgeries

CLEVELAND, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Cleveland center fielder Grady Sizemore needs surgeries on his left elbow and left side and will not play again this season.

The team said Friday the elbow surgery will be an arthroscopic procedure designed to eliminate his constant pain and the second is for "an unstable abdominal wall."

The elbow surgery will be performed next week at Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Mark Schickendantz, the team's medical director.

Sizemore, 27, went to the disabled list for the first time in his career with the elbow injury from May 31-June 23, and it bothered him the entire season.

"He's walking around like a lost man," head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff said on the team's Web site.

"We sat down and discussed the options," Sizemore said. "I'll have plenty of time to work out to get back to where I want to be."

He batted .248 with 18 homers, 64 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 106 games.
