MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Newly hired Minnesota Timberwolves Coach Kurt Rambis announced his assistants Thursday, including former NBA stars Reggie Theus and Bill Laimbeer.

Theus, who spent 13 years with five teams as a player, was head coach at Sacramento where he was 44-62 in a 106-game stint from the start of the 2007-08 season to last December. He also was head coach at New Mexico State for two years.

Laimbeer, a three-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion with the Detroit Pistons, most recently spent seven years as coach and general manager for the WNBA's Detroit Shock, where he won three league titles.

Also named to Rambis's staff were Dave Wohl and J.B. Bickerstaff.

Wohl was assistant general manager of the Boston Celtics the past two seasons and also spent time as an assistant coach with Boston, Orlando, Miami, Sacramento and both Los Angeles teams. He was head coach of the New Jersey Nets from 1985-88.

Bickerstaff returns for his third season as an assistant with Minnesota. He spent the previous three years as an assistant to his father Bernie with the Charlotte Bobcats.
