FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns Thursday, rallying the New England Patriots to a 38-27 exhibition win over the New York Giants.

Green-Ellis, who started three games last season, gained 125 yards on 29 carries and dominated the late stages of the contest.

After the Giants took a 27-24 lead early in the fourth quarter on a 25-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes, the Patriots drove 80 yards in 10 plays and Green-Ellis finished the march with a 1-yard scoring run.

New York could not pick up a first down on its next possession and punted the ball away, leading to a 64-yard, 6-play drive that Green-Ellis climaxed by running 32 yards.

Eli Manning started for the Giants and threw just three passes, one of them going 23 yards for a touchdown to Sinorice Moss. David Carr came on and threw two touchdown passes for the Giants, who built a 21-0 lead after one quarter.

New England began its comeback with a 27-yard interception return for a score by Brandon McGowan in the second period.

The Patriots ended its exhibition play at 3-1 and will open at home against Buffalo in the year's first Monday night game. The Giants (1-3) will start with a home game against Washington.
