JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Tiquan Underwood picked up a fumbled kickoff return and brought it back 3 yards for a score Thursday, highlighting Jacksonville's 24-17 win over Washington.

The Jaguars scored 10 points in the span of 10 seconds in the first period to set up their only victory in the exhibition season.

Jacksonville took a 21-0 lead at halftime, getting a 10-yard touchdown midway through the second period on a pass from David Garrard to Marcus Walker. Garrard then hit Jarett Dillard with a 2-point conversion pass.

Josh Scobee kicked the first of his three field goals with 7:39 remaining in the first quarter and on the ensuing kickoff Washington's Anthony Aldridge fumbled the ball away at his own 13-yard line. The ball bounced back to the 3, where Underwood fielded it en route to a touchdown.

Washington scored the game's final 17 points, the two touchdowns coming on passes by Chase Daniel.

Jacksonville will open its season at Indianapolis. Washington (1-3) will start at the New York Giants.
