CINCINNATI, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Jordan Palmer threw two second-half touchdown passes Thursday and the Cincinnati Bengals coasted to a 38-7 exhibition victory over Indianapolis.

Palmer's brother, starting quarterback Carson Palmer, missed Cincinnati's final three exhibition games with an ankle sprain.

Backup J.T. O'Sullivan completed both of his passes in a brief appearance and one of them went 14 yards to Andre Caldwell for a first-period touchdown.

The younger Palmer then came on to complete 8-of-16 for 75 yards and two scores. He hit Chris Henry with a 7-yarder in the second period and Kolo Kapanui with a 25-yarder in the third.

DeDe Dorsey returned a blocked punt 7 yards for Cincinnati's final score in the fourth period.

The only Indianapolis touchdown came on a 22-yard throw from Jim Sorgi to Taj Smith in the opening period. Quarterback Peyton Manning did not play for the Colts.

Cincinnati (2-2 in exhibition play) opens its season at home against Denver. Indianapolis (1-3) will host Jacksonville in its opener.
