ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Josh Hamilton hit two home runs in the nightcap Tuesday to help the Texas Rangers sweep a doubleheader with Toronto by identical scores of 5-2.
Hamilton hit two home runs in the same game for the first time since May 16, 2008. Chris Davis added a solo homer and two RBI.
Brandon McCarthy (6-2), who was activated from the 60-day DL before the doubleheader, allowed only three hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings in his first start since June 4.
Frank Francisco earned his 21st save and second of the day.
With the two wins, Texas moved to 3 1/2 games behind the Red Sox in the AL wild-card standings.
Brian Tallet (5-9) gave up four runs and six hits in five innings for the Blue Jays fifth loss in their last six games.
Lyle Overbay and Aaron Hill each drove in a run for the Blue Jays.
