
DENVER, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Colorado moved a game ahead of the Giants in the National League wild-card race Tuesday with an 8-3 win over the New York Mets.
Jorge De La Rosa (13-9) halted the Rockies' five-game losing streak with a solid six-inning start. He gave up two runs -- one earned -- on four hits and struck out six.
Todd Helton hit a three-run homer for Colorado and Carlos Gonzalez had a two-run shot.
Angel Pagan had two hits and an RBI for the Mets, who have lost three of their last four games. David Wright came off the disabled list and went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Mike Pelfrey (9-10) was tagged with the loss after giving up seven runs -- six earned -- on six hits and five walks in four innings.
The Mets scored a pair of runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Jeff Francoeur and an RBI double by Fernando Tatis that scored Wright from second.
Colorado came back with a run in the bottom of the first and then added three in the second and three more in the fourth to go ahead 7-2.
