Tigers activate Bonderman

DETROIT, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- American League Central-leading Detroit has taken right-hander Jeremy Bonderman off the disabled list heading down the final stretch of the regular season.

The Tigers also added a number of other players to take advantage of the expanded roster limit.

Bonderman, 26, has pitched just once for the Tigers this season after having thoracic outlet compression syndrome surgery last year. On June 8, he was roughed up for six runs on eight hits in four innings of a loss to the Chicago White Sox, then went back on the DL soon after. He went 0-3 with a 5.79 earn-run average in 11 relief appearances during a rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Toledo.

Detroit also recalled pitchers Eddie Bonine and Casey Fien, outfielder Wilkin Ramirez and catcher Dusty Ryan from the minor league club. Shortstop Brent Dlugach had his contract purchased from Toledo and the Tigers made room for him on the 40-man roster by recalling infielder Michael Hollimon from Class AA Erie and placing him on the 60-day disabled list while he recovers from right shoulder surgery.
