MLB: Texas 5, Toronto 2 (1st game)

ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Ian Kinsler hit his 29th homer of the season Tuesday to help the Texas Rangers post a 5-2 win over Toronto in the first game of a doubleheader.

Dustin Nippert (5-2) gave up two runs on five hits and a walk in six innings to get the victory.

Nelson Cruz and Chris Davis each drove in two runs for the Rangers.

Frank Francisco earned his 20th save to help Texas pull to within 3 1/2 games of Boston for the lead in the AL wild card standings.

Adam Lind hit his 28th homer of the season for the Blue Jays, who have lost four of five. Marc Mazepczynski (2-4) yielded three runs, eight hits and two walks and struck out nine in six innings.
