
DETROIT, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Placido Polanco, Carlos Guillen and Brandon Inge each homered Tuesday to lead the Detroit Tigers to an 8-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Polanco and Guillen hit back-to-back homers in the first inning and Inge later added a two-run homer. Aubrey Huff had three RBI.
Edwin Jackson (11-6) got the win despite allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks in five innings. Fernando Rodney earned his 30th save of the season.
Andy Marte homered and Grady Sizemore drove in two runs for the Indians, who have lost three of their last four games.
Carlos Carrasco (0-1), who was acquired by Cleveland in the deal that sent Cliff Lee to Philadelphia in late July, allowed six runs on nine hits in three innings in his major league debut.
