NFL: Minnesota 17, Houston 10

HOUSTON, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Brett Favre completed 13-of-18 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown Monday to lead the Minnesota Vikings to a 17-10 pre-season win over Houston.

Earlier in the day, Favre reportedly complained of pain when he takes deep breaths and said he thinks he might have a cracked rib. Backups Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson saw limited action, with Rosenfels going 2-of-3 for 26 yards Jackson 2-of-2 for 22 yards.

Adrian Peterson gained 117 yards on 11 carries, including a first-play 75-yard run, for the Vikings. Chester Taylor added 30 yards on seven carries to go with 41 yards and a TD on three receptions.

Houston's Matt Schaub was 10-of-14 for 108 yards with an interception. Steve Slaton gained 27 yards and scored a TD on 12 carries and had three receptions for 20 yards. Andre Johnson caught three passes for 61 yards in the loss.
