JOLIET, Ill., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Ryan Briscoe nipped Scott Dixon Sunday to win the IRL Peak Antifreeze and Motor Oil Indy 300 at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.

The Team Penske driver, the race's pole winner, battled back from 10th place before battling Dixon side-by-side for the lead in the final 10 laps.

His margin of victory, 0.0077 seconds, was the fourth closest finish in IndyCar history.

"I didn't know I had won it," Briscoe said shortly after his third victory this season and fifth in his IRL career. "I didn't think I had enough for Scott, but once I got beside him, the side draft just pulled me right there."

Briscoe earned two bonus points for leading the most laps with 71.

Dixon has finished second in the last three races at Chicagoland.

Mario Moraes finished third, Dario Franchitti fourth and Graham Rahal fifth.
