ATLANTA, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Chris Redman's touchdown pass in the closing seconds Saturday gave Atlanta a 27-24 NFL pre-season victory over San Diego.

Redman, a back-up to starter Matt Ryan, threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Eric Weems with nine seconds remaining.

The play came soon after Nate Kaeding's 37-yard field goal had given San Diego a 24-20 advantage with 2:07 left.

Ryan completed 14-of-20 passes for 140 yards with one touchdown.

Redman went 15-of-19 for 134 yards and scored on a 10-yard run.

Michael Turner rushed for 47 yards on 12 carries, and Marty Booker caught six passes for 62 yards for the Falcons (2-1).

San Diego's Philip Rivers went 10-of-15 for 185 yards with one touchdown.

Back-up Billy Volek completed 7-of-9 passes for 102 yards and one score, and Michael Bennett caught three passes for 84 yards with a touchdown for the Chargers (1-2).
