ST. LOUIS, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Matt Holliday and Colby Rasmus each hit three-run homers Saturday to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 9-4 win over Washington.
Albert Pujols had two doubles, scored twice and was intentionally walked twice for the NL Central-leading Cardinals, who hold a nine-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the division.
Brendan Ryan scored two runs, and Skip Schumaker went 3-for-5 in St. Louis' eighth win in 10 games.
Mitchell Boggs (2-2) gave up three runs and eight hits in six innings for his first win since April 25.
Adam Dunn hit his 35th home run of the season, Ryan Zimmerman drove in two runs and Pete Orr went 4-for-4 for Washington.
Craig Stammen (4-7) was charged with six runs on just four hits over 4 2/3 innings for Washington, which suffered its ninth loss in the last 12 games.
