Chicago boxer dies in first title fight

MIAMI, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Tony Gwynn's two-run triple in the eighth Saturday helped the San Diego Padres post a 7-4 victory over the Florida Marlins.
Oscar Salazar went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and Will Venable hit a solo home run and scored twice for the Padres, who have won four of their last five games.
Wade LeBlanc gave up four runs on four hits as the San Diego starter, but Adam Russell (1-0) got the win for pitching a scoreless seventh.
Ronny Paulino hit a two-run homer and had three RBI, and Emilio Bonifacio drove in the other run for the Marlins, who have lost their last three games.
Louis Ayala (0-3) took the loss after being charged with three runs on four hits while recording just one out.
