NEW YORK, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Sergio Mitre and Chad Gaudin combined on a one-hit shutout Saturday, leading the New York Yankees in a 10-0 rout of the Chicago White Sox.
Mitre (3-1) gave up Jim Thome's double with one out in the top of the fifth before he took a line drive off the bat of A.J. Pierzynski with one out in the top of the seventh.
He suffered a right arm contusion and X-rays taken at Yankee Stadium were negative.
Following a game-winning three-run homer Friday, Robinson Cano had three hits and two RBI.
Alex Rodriguez had two hits, one a solo homer, and two RBI.
Hideki Matsui and Nick Swisher both had two hits and one RBI.
Johnny Damon and Jerry Hairston Jr. drove in two runs each, while Derek Jeter added three hits for the Yankees, who have won three of four.
The losing pitcher was starter Jose Contreras (5-13).
