MLB: Milwaukee 7, Pittsburgh 3

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Jody Gerut had a pinch-hit RBI double in the sixth inning to put Milwaukee ahead for good Saturday in the Brewers' 7-3 win over Pittsburgh.

Craig Counsell went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run, and Alcides Escobar, Felipe Lopez, Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun each drove in a run for the Brewers.

Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo gave up three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in five innings. Claudio Vargas (1-0) got the win with a scoreless inning of relief.

Andy LaRoche had a two-run homer for the Pirates, who have lost three of four. Pittsburgh has lost 20 games in a row in Milwaukee.

Kevin Hart (4-4) took the loss after giving up five runs on six hits in six innings.
