NORTH PLAINS, Ore., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Beth Bader, seeking her first victory her ninth LPGA Tour season, took the lead Friday after one round of the Safeway Classic.

Bader birdied half the holes on the Ghost Course of the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club and shot an 8-under 64.

That gave her a one-shot lead over Seon Hwa Lee and Anna Nordqvist, a member of the losing European squad at last week's Solheim Cup.

Angela Stanford, who won the first point for the United States in Sunday's Solheim Cup singles matches, shared fourth place at 66 with Janice Moodie, Stacy Prammanasudh, Candie Kung and Moria Dunn.

Michelle Wie was among those tied for 11th at 68. Wie won three matches and tied another to earn the most points for the American squad at the Solheim Cup, which the United States won 16-12.

Although she has yet to win in her rookie year on the tour, Wie ranks 17th on the money list and is the sixth leading American on that chart.

Leading money winner Cristie Kerr shot a 69 Friday.
