SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Bengie Molina hit a three-run homer with two out in the eighth inning Wednesday that rallied the San Francisco Giants to a 4-3 triumph over Arizona.
The Diamondbacks took a 3-0 lead into the seventh, but that advantage disappeared thanks to a solo homer by Juan Uribe and Molina's 16th blast of the season.
San Francisco's comeback allowed the Giants to close within three games of Colorado for the lead in the National League wild-card race. Arizona has won only once in 10 games.
Arizona starter Doug Davis was still on the mound to start the eighth and he retired the first two men in the inning. Edgar Renteria then drew a walk and Randy Winn singled Renteria to second, driving Davis from the game in place of Chad Qualls (2-2).
Molina came on to pinch hit for Ryan Garko and he delivered the game-winning homer on an 0-2 pitch.
Jim Miller (3-3) got the win by pitching a scoreless eighth and Brandon Medders worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his first save in a five-year career.
