DENVER, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Rafael Furcal's RBI single Thursday broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers held on to edge Colorado 3-2.
Matt Kemp had three hits, including a two-run homer with no outs in the first and Orlando Hudson had two hits for the Dodgers, who won twice in the three-game series, opening a four-game lead over the Rockies in the National League West.
Winner Vicente Padilla (1-0) surrendered two runs and six hits in five innings.
Closer Jonathan Broxton earned his 28th save despite giving up two hits in 1 1/3 innings.
Troy Tulowitzki led Colorado with three hits and one RBI. Seth Smith hit an RBI triple and Yorvit Torrealba had two hits for the Rockies, who have lost just three of their last 11 games.
The losing pitcher was starter Jorge De La Rosa (12-9), who went seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.
