MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Scott Baker limited Baltimore to four hits in seven innings Monday and Joe Nathan escaped a ninth-inning jam, giving Minnesota a 2-1 win over the Orioles.

The Twins won for the sixth time in seven games, having started the evening's action 4 ½ games behind division leading Detroit in the American League Central.

Baker (12-7) struck out five and walked just one to remain unbeaten in nine starts since the All-Star break. He gave up Baltimore's only run in the third on a single by Michael Aubrey and a two-out double by Brian Roberts.

Minnesota rallied to take the lead in the sixth against starter Chris Tillman (1-2). Alexi Casilla opened the inning with a triple and scored on a wild pitch. After the Twins loaded the bases on two singles, a stolen base and an intentional walk, Jason Kubel drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

Nathan made things interesting in the ninth before collecting his 37th save. After striking out the first two men in the inning, Nathan walked Nick Markakis and Nolan Reimold. He then got Matt Wieters to strike out swinging on a 3-2 pitch to end the game.
