NFL: Tampa Bay 24, Jacksonville 23

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Luke McCown connected on 6-of-9 passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns Saturday in Tampa Bay's 24-23 exhibition victory over Jacksonville.

Both of McCown's TD passes came in the second quarter when he hit Jeremy Stevens from 17 yards and Sammie Stroughter from 9.

Jacksonville got on the board first less than a minute into the game when David Garrard's 74-yard bomb found Troy Williamson. Garrard completed 10-of-16 for 216 yards.

Josh Freeman scored a TD for Tampa Bay on a 28-yard run in the third quarter.

Jacksonville scored touchdowns on a 1-yard run by Greg Jones in the second quarter and a 20-yard pass from Todd Bauman to Tyler Lorenzen in the fourth.

Tampa Bay's Mike Nugent hit a 46-yard field goal in the first quarter, and Jacksonville's Josh Scobee hit a 29-yarder in the third.

Byron Leftwich completed 6-of-12 for 63 yards for Tampa Bay.
