NFL: New Orleans 38, Houston 14

HOUSTON, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Mike Bell rushed for one touchdown, and Drew Brees threw for another Saturday in the New Orleans Saints' 38-14 exhibition win over the Houston Texans.

Bell racked up 100 yards in 10 carries. Brees connected on 9-of-14 passes for 87 yards, including his scoring toss to Pierre Thomas.

New Orleans, which is is 2-0 in the pre-season, got another 96 yards in passing from Mark Brunell and 69 from Joey Harrington.

Matt Schaub went 11-of-16 for 97 yards and a touchdown to David Anderson for Houston, which is 1-1 in pre-season play. Backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky was 11-of-17 for 136 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Steve Slaton ran for 30 yards on six carries, and Andre Johnson caught four passes for 38 yards for the Texans.

Garrett Hartley hit a 22-yard field goal, and Rod Harper returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown. The Saints also got TD runs from Herb Donaldson and P.J. Hill.
