
MIAMI, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Chad Pennington completed 8-of11 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown Saturday as the Miami Dolphins downed the Carolina Panthers 27-17 in exhibition play.
Ronnie Brown carried the ball seven times for 31 yards and caught three passes for 43 yards and a TD, while Lex Hilliard ran 39 yards for a touchdown for the Dolphins, now 2-0 in pre-season play.
Josh McCown connected on 7-of-12 for 61 yards; Jake Delhomme, 5-of-7 for 47 yards, as the Panthers slipped to 0-2.
DeAngelo Williams rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown on eight carriers for Carolina, and DeCori Birmingham scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter
Miami also scored a TD on a 2-yard pass from Chad Henne to Joe Kowalewski in the fourth quarter.
Conner Barth and Dan Carpenter hit field goals for the Dolphins, and John Kasay put one through the uprights for the Panthers.
